\u201cBangabandhu\u2019s daughter Sheikh Hasina had enormous courage as she
\ndidn\u2019t do any misdeed. So, no conspiracy could bar Sheikh Hasina from
\nreturning home on May 7, 2007,\u201d he told a regular press conference at
\nhis residence recalling Sheikh Hasina\u2019s homecoming on May 7.<\/p>\n
Quader said May 7 is a memorable day to the democracy-loving people
\nof Bangladesh.<\/p>\n
On this day in 2007, Bangabandhu\u2019s daughter Sheikh Hasina returned
\nhome en route to London, after receiving treatments in the United
\nStates, defying all obstacles and conspiracy to restore the country\u2019s
\ndemocracy during the state of emergency declared by the then military
\nbacked caretaker government, he said.<\/p>\n
He said as Sheikh Hasina was born to a political family, she
\nwitnessed different aspects and change of courses in history.<\/p>\n
Sheikh Hasina\u2019s father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was her
\npolitical mentor and she loves the people as like as his father, he
\nmentioned.<\/p>\n
The AL general secretary said as Sheikh Hasina returned home on that
\nday defying all obstacles to free democracy from captivity, the then
\ncaretaker government had been forced to leave the power by holding the
\ngeneral elections fowling pressure created by the pressure.<\/p>\n
He said Awami League led Grand Alliance attained a landslide victory
\nin the December 29, 2008 general elections and then formed the
\ngovernment.<\/p>\n
After assuming office as the prime minister for the second time,
\nSheikh Hasina began struggle to build the country as a happy and
\nprosperous nation after retrieving it from crisis.<\/p>\n
He said Sheikh Hasina freed the nation from stigma by bringing
\nBangabandhu\u2019s killers and war criminals to justice.<\/p>\n
Quader said because of her diplomatic efficiency, Bangladesh settled
\nlongstanding maritime and land boundary issues with neighboring
\ncountries.<\/p>\n
He said Bangladesh is now marching forward on the highway of
\ndevelopment in an indomitable pace under the dynamic leadership of
\nPrime Minister Sheikh Hasina.<\/p>\n
Quader said by launching Bangabandhu Satellite-1, Sheikh Hasina
\nreached the dream to space.<\/p>\n
Under the domestic funds, the construction work of much-anticipated
\nPadma Bridge is now at the final stage while the works of Bangabandhu
\ntunnel beneath Karnaphuli river in Chattogram and metro-rail in Dhaka
\nare progressing fast, he said.<\/p>\n
The AL general secretary said Bangladesh\u2019s role in tackling the
\nfirst wave of coronavirus outbreak has been lauded at home and abroad.<\/p>\n
When many developed countries reeled under the spike of
\ncoronavirus, Bangladesh has been able to contain the spread of the
\ndeadly virus a little bit under the bold and prudent leadership of
\nSheikh Hasina, he said.<\/p>\n
He said Sheikh Hasina\u2019s homecoming on May 7 is a significant
\nincident in the history of the country\u2019s democratic struggles,
\ndevelopment and progress.<\/p>\n
Quader said every year many programmes are arranged to mark the day
\nbut this year programmes has been called off in view of the
\ncoronavirus outbreak at the directives of Sheikh Hasina.<\/p>\n
He urged the people as well as all the leaders and workers of the
\nparty to offer \u2018doa\u2019 for good health and long life of Prime Minister
\nSheikh Hasina staying at home.<\/p>\n
Quader also requested all to observe the Sheikh Hasina\u2019s historic
\nhomecoming day on May 17 recalling her returning home on that day in
\n1981 by arranging milad mahfil and special prayers at mosques,
