{"id":6508,"date":"2019-07-08T07:33:01","date_gmt":"2019-07-08T07:33:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/deshmediabd.info\/?p=6508"},"modified":"2019-07-08T07:33:01","modified_gmt":"2019-07-08T07:33:01","slug":"29-killed-in-bus-crash-on-indian-expressway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deshnews24.info\/?p=6508","title":{"rendered":"29 killed in bus crash on Indian expressway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> A bus careered off one of India\u2019s<br \/>\nbusiest roads early Monday killing at least 29 people, police said.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the bus was suspected to have fallen asleep before the<br \/>\ndouble-decker bus hit a divider and fell into a gap between two flyovers on<br \/>\nthe Yamuna expressway from Delhi to Agra, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>The bus was taking about 50 people from New Delhi to Lucknow, in Uttar<br \/>\nPradesh state, when the accident happened at about 4.15am.<\/p>\n<p>It fell more than 12 metres (40 feet) into a river below the road, crushing<br \/>\nthe top deck of the bus and water was complicating rescue efforts, police<br \/>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwenty nine persons have died and 18 others are injured,\u201d said Agra<br \/>\ndistrict magistrate N.G. Ravi Kumar at the scene of the accident.<\/p>\n<p>The 165-kilometre (100-mile) Yamuna expressway from Delhi to Agra is<br \/>\nIndia\u2019s longest six-lane highway and about 900 people been killed on the road<br \/>\nsince it opened in 2012, according to authorities.<\/p>\n<p>More than 150,000 people a year are killed on India\u2019s roads, which are<br \/>\nnotorious for poor infrastructure and speeding drivers.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/deshmediabd.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/354.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"534\" height=\"401\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6509\" srcset=\"https:\/\/deshnews24.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/354.jpg 534w, https:\/\/deshnews24.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/354-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 534px) 100vw, 534px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A bus careered off one of India\u2019s busiest roads early Monday killing at least 29 people, police said.
