Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus has called for an impartial presentation of Bangladesh Liberation War history through the activities of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.<\/p>\n
He made the remarks on Monday afternoon during a meeting at the state guest house Jamuna, attended by Liberation War Affairs Adviser Faruq E Azam, Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser Siraj Uddin Mia, and senior officials of the ministry.

\nDuring the meeting, Adviser Faruq E Azam criticized the ministry for spending millions of taka on infrastructure projects that he claimed present a distorted narrative of the Liberation War. He pointed out that many of these installations lack detailed accounts of battlefields or testimonies of freedom fighters, instead showcasing exaggerated information centered on a single family\u2019s photos and memorabilia.<\/p>\n
As an example, he cited a research project titled ‘Implementation of Bangabandhu’s Ideals and Spirit of Liberation War’, which had a budget of Tk 230 million. “Despite taking such huge sums from the ministry, they have done little genuine research,” Faruq E Azam alleged.<\/p>\n
The adviser further stated that Sheikh Hasina’s government turned freedom fighters into a privileged class by politicizing the allocation of assets, benefits, and funds meant for them. \u201cThey used infrastructure built for freedom fighters to carry out Awami League politics,\u201d he added, emphasizing that valuable abandoned properties under the Muktijoddha Welfare Trust require careful decision-making.<\/p>\n
In response, Chief Adviser Yunus instructed the immediate appointment of a consultant and formation of a follow-up committee to explore how these trust-owned properties could be better utilized and how the trust\u2019s capacity could be strengthened.<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cWe need concrete initiatives to define the Welfare Trust\u2019s functions and identify potential enterprises on its properties. This trust must be revitalized.\u201d<\/p>\n
The chief adviser also directed all concerned to ensure that future projects under the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs truthfully reflect the real history of Bangladesh\u2019s independence struggle.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, ministry officials presented the chief adviser with a report outlining key initiatives taken during the current government’s tenure and its six-month action plan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
