Tens of thousands of people today thronged the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital to attend the ‘March for Gaza’ rally in protest against Israeli genocide in Palestine.<\/p>\n
People from all ages – from children to elderly – attended the mammoth rally.<\/p>\n
Every inch of the venue was filled with protesters. It could not accommodate all the protesters, leading to splitting them to the streets in the adjacent areas.<\/p>\n
The air buzzed with slogans such as ‘From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will Be Free’, ‘One, Two, Three, Four, Genocide No More’ and ‘Free Free Palestine.’<\/p>\n
Traffic movement in adjacent areas including Shahbag, Banglamotor, Science Lab, Paribag, Katabon, Bata Signal, Nilkhet, Bakhsi Bazar, Chankharpul, Purana Paltan, and Kakrail became standstill for hours.<\/p>\n
Although the programme began at 3:00pm, people began to gather at the venue since morning.<\/p>\n
They carried banners and festoons inscribing various slogans and lines, condemning Israel and its allies for the barbarism, killing thousands of innocent civilians including a large number of them being children and women.<\/p>\n
Maulana Mufti Mohammad Abdul Malek, Khatib of the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram, presided over the program.<\/p>\n
