{"id":57551,"date":"2025-02-03T07:21:26","date_gmt":"2025-02-03T07:21:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deshmediabd.com\/?p=57551"},"modified":"2025-02-03T07:21:26","modified_gmt":"2025-02-03T07:21:26","slug":"upgrading-mongla-to-regional-shipping-hub-china-aided-seaport-dev-project-gets-all-clear-gas-drilling-among-three-energy-sector-schemes-approved-by-ecnec","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deshnews24.info\/?p=57551","title":{"rendered":"Upgrading Mongla to regional shipping hub China-aided seaport dev project gets all-clear Gas drilling among three energy-sector schemes approved by ECNEC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A major project gets finally gets the go-ahead to expand and modernise Mongla seaport with enhanced container-handling capacity under a plan to upgrade it to a regional shipping hub.<\/p>\n<p>The Mongla Port Authority, under the Ministry of Shipping, will implement the project by December 2028 at a total cost of over 4.07 billion that includes a loan of about Tk 3.56 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) in a meeting held at the NEC auditorium in Dhaka with Chief Adviser of the post-uprising government Dr Muhammad Yunus in the chair gave approval for this one and 12 other projects.<\/p>\n<p>Briefing reporters after the meeting, Planning Adviser Dr Wahiduddin Mahmud emphasised the port&#8217;s geopolitical significance and said the government is committed to developing Mongla Port into a regional hub by strengthening its container-handling infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This project has been undertaken after thorough review while China would finance most of the project cost,&#8221; he said about the long-envisaged port project.<\/p>\n<p>In response to a question, he said international trade could be expanded further with Bhutan, Nepal and China with the expansion of container-handling capacity through implementation of this project.<a href=\"https:\/\/thefinancialexpress.com.bd\/economy\/china-aided-seaport-dev-project-gets-all-clear\">\u09ac\u09bf\u09b8\u09cd\u09a4\u09be\u09b0\u09bf\u09a4<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A major project gets finally gets the go-ahead to expand and modernise Mongla seaport with enhanced container-handling capacity under a plan to upgrade it to a regional shipping hub.
