\u201cWe celebrate our glorious Victory in 1971; we celebrate the Truth,\u201d the foreign ministry stated in a post on its verified Facebook page, citing Dixit\u2019s observations on the events of December 16, 1971.<\/p>\n
The ministry\u2019s post, titled \u201cFacts in History\u201d, reiterated that Bangladesh emerged as a sovereign, independent country on December 16, 1971, following a prolonged struggle and a nine-month-long brutal war.<\/p>\n
It quoted Dixit\u2019s book Liberation and Beyond: Indo-Bangladesh Relations, which detailed the surrender ceremony marking the end of the war.<\/p>\n
