{"id":39246,"date":"2023-07-14T04:09:43","date_gmt":"2023-07-14T04:09:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deshmediabd.com\/?p=39246"},"modified":"2023-07-14T04:09:43","modified_gmt":"2023-07-14T04:09:43","slug":"hollywood-shuts-down-as-actors-go-on-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deshnews24.info\/?p=39246","title":{"rendered":"Hollywood shuts down as actors go on strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tens of thousands of Hollywood actors will go on strike at midnight Thursday, effectively bringing the giant movie and television business to a halt as they join writers in the first industry-wide walkout for 63 years.<\/p>\n<p>The Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) issued a strike order after last-ditch talks with studios on their demands over dwindling pay and the threat posed by artificial intelligence ended without a deal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a moment of history, a moment of truth &#8212; if we don&#8217;t stand tall right now, we are all going to be in trouble,&#8221; SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher told a press conference, following the union board&#8217;s unanimous vote to strike.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are all going to be in jeopardy of being replaced by machines and big business.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After the strike formally goes into effect at 0700 GMT Friday, actors will join writers on picket lines in the first Hollywood double strike since 1960.<\/p>\n<p>Writers have already spent 11 weeks protesting outside the headquarters of the likes of Disney and Netflix, after their similar demands were not met.<\/p>\n<p>With the shutdown of nearly all productions and film sets, popular television series face lengthy delays.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bssnews.net\/news-flash\/136219\">\u09ac\u09bf\u09b8\u09cd\u09a4\u09be\u09b0\u09bf\u09a4<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tens of thousands of Hollywood actors will go on strike at midnight Thursday, effectively bringing the giant movie and television business to a halt as they join writers in the first industry-wide walkout for 63 years.
