The Kremlin on Wednesday said it expects
\na meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump to go ahead later this
\nweek, despite the US leader saying he may cancel it over Russia\u2019s seizure of
\nthree Ukrainian ships.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe preparations (for the meeting) are continuing. The meeting is agreed.
\nWe don\u2019t have any different information from our American colleagues,\u201d
\nPutin\u2019s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said during a daily briefing.<\/p>\n

In a sign that the Kremlin remains hopeful, Peskov said Moscow \u201cpaid
\nattention\u201d to a White House spokesman\u2019s briefing on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was said that Trump is planning a range of meetings, including with
\nPutin,\u201d Peskov said.<\/p>\n

The pair is scheduled to meet at the G20 summit in Argentina at the end of
\nthis week.<\/p>\n

But Trump said late Tuesday that he was waiting for a report from national
\nsecurity advisors on a weekend clash at sea between Russia and Ukraine to
\ndecide if he will cancel the meeting.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat will be very determinative. Maybe I won\u2019t have the meeting. Maybe I
\nwon\u2019t even have the meeting,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Russian forces fired on, boarded and captured three of Kiev\u2019s
\nships off the coast of Crimea, sparking the most dangerous crisis between the
\nex-Soviet neighbours in years.<\/p>\n
