\nwas placed in the parliament with a view to bring the organization into a legal frame.<\/p>\n

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu today placed the bill in the House with Speaker Dr Shirin
\nSharimin Chaudhury in the chair.<\/p>\n

Piloting the bill, the Information minister said the proposed bill will replace the Bangladesh
\nSangbad Sangstha Ordinance, 1979.<\/p>\n

As per the proposed bill, the headquarters of the organization will be established in Dhaka and its
\nbranch offices will be set up anywhere of the country, if necessary, with prior government
\npermission.<\/p>\n

The organization will have a mandate to undertake programme for overall development and
\nmodernization of the agency under the proposed law.<\/p>\n

There will be a 13-member Board of Directors, including its chairman\u2013the administration and
\noperation of the organization will depend on the Board. The Managing Director of the organization will provide the secretarial support to the Board.<\/p>\n

The chairman of the organization will be appointed by the government and he will remain in the position for three years.<\/p>\n

Any journalist who has at least 18 years experience could be appointed as the Managing Director by the government and the Managing Director would also be the chief editor of the organization, according the bill.<\/p>\n

The minster urged the house to send the bill to the parliamentary standing committee for
