NEPC, one of the Chinese giant power engineering companies, has set up its office in the capital with a long term plan to penetrate Bangladesh market through setting up more power stations as well as importing power generation oriented machineries and equipment.
\n NEPC (China Energy Engineering Group Northeast No. 1 Electric Power Construction Co. Ltd.) is the first ever any Chinese power plant construction company that set up its own full-phased office in Dhaka.
\n “We are giving most priority to the Bangladesh projects as NEPC plants will be responsible for generating around one fourth (around 3500 MW) of the total power generation of this country” The Executive Managing Director of Bangladesh Branch Company of NEPC Roy Luo Changqing said while inaugurating the new office at Glass house in Gulshan today.
\nHe said NEPC took a plan to expand its operation in Bangladesh for mitigating huge demand of power here with the spirit of long lasted friendly ties between Dhaka and Beijing.
\n \u201cWe will continue our effort to bring Chinese top power generation technology and top equipment to benefit Bangladesh people and its economy,\u201d Luo said.
\n Currently, NEPC is constructing the 1320 MW coal-fired thermal power plant with eco-friendly clean coal technology, first time in Bangladesh, near Payra port in Putuakhali, one of the landmark power generation projects of the present government.
\n Besides the mega project, NEPC is also constructing four more power plants \u2013 two in Sirajganj, Unit 2 (225 MW) and Unit 3 (225 MW) and two in Ghorasal Unit 7 (300\/450 MW) and Unit 3 (416 MW).
\n NEPC has already set up three power plants in Bibiyana II (345 MW), Meghnaghat (337 MW) and Sirajganj unit 1 (225 MW).
\n With total contract value over 2 billion US dollars, NEPC has already created over 5000 local employment and has a plan to create more and more jobs for both skilled and unskilled Bangladesh manpower.
\n Apart from Bangladesh, NEPC, founded in 1951, is working in different countries including Pakistan, Mongolia Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Philippines, Iraq, Turkey and some African nations as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
