The 91st birth anniversary of Bangamata
\nSheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, wife of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu
\nSheikh Mujibur Rahman, was observed today amid different programmes.<\/p>\n
The theme of the day this year was ‘Bangamata is a fearless
\ncompanion in crisis and struggle’ (Bangamata Sangkate Sangrame Nirvik
\nSahajatri).<\/p>\n
Marking the day, Awami League and its associate and like-minded
\nbodies, various cultural and social organizations paid glowing
\ntributes to Bangamata by placing wreaths on her grave at Banani
\ngraveyard in the morning.<\/p>\n
On behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, at first, Awami League
\nGeneral Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul
\nQuader paid homage to Bangamata by placing a wreath on her grave.<\/p>\n
Later, the AL general secretary along with party’s central leaders
\nplaced another wreath on her grave.<\/p>\n
Talking to journalists after paying homage, Quader said Bangamata
\nSheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib was not only wife of Bangabandhu but also
\nhis co-fighter in his entire life.<\/p>\n
“From behind the curtain, Bangamata had always given inspirations,
\nstrength and courage to Bangabandhu in struggles as well as every
\ncrisis moment,” he adding, that in absence of Bangabandhu, Bangamata
\nhad contributed extensively to the nation’s struggle for freedom from
\nbehind the scene.<\/p>\n
AL Presidium Members Begum Matia Chowdhury, Dr Abdur Razzaque,
\nShajahan Khan, Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman, Joint General
\nSecretary and Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud,
\nJoint General Secretaries Mahbubul-Alam Hanif and AFM Bahauddin Nasim,
\nOrganizing Secretary Ahmed Hossain and Mirza Azam, Science and
\nTechnology Affairs Secretary Engineer Abdus Sabur, Office Secretary
\nBarrister Biplab Barua and Central Working Committee Members Dr
\nMustafa Jalal Mahiuddin and Anwar Hossain were present, among others,
\nwhile paying tributes on behalf of the party.<\/p>\n
Later, Dhaka city north and south units of AL, Bangladesh Krishak
\nLeague, Awami Swechchhasebak League, Mohila Awami League, Jubo Mohila
\nLeague, Bangladesh Chhatra League, Tanti League, Awami Matsyajibi
\nLeague, Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa
\nMujib Parishad and different other social and cultural organizations
\npaid homage to Bangamata on her birth anniversary.<\/p>\n
Doa, milad-mahfil and Quran khawani were held there on the occasion
\nseeking eternal peace of Bangamata’s soul.<\/p>\n
Marking the birth anniversary, the Ministry of Women and Children
\nAffairs organized Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Padak-2021
\ndistribution ceremony at Osmani Memorial auditorium.<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressed the ceremony as the chief
\nguest joining it virtually from her official residence Ganabhaban
\nhere.<\/p>\n
On behalf of the Premier, State Minister for Women and Children
\nAffairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira handed over the first ever introduced
\nPadak to the recipients, which is also the highest state honor for
\nwomen in the country.<\/p>\n
The state minister chaired the programme while Women and Children
\nAffairs Secretary Md. Sayedul Islam gave the welcome address.<\/p>\n
Dr Syed Anwar Husain, Professor of “Bangabandhu Chair” at
\nBangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) spoke at the function as
\nkeynote speaker, while Jatiyo Mohila Sangstha (JMS) Chairman Begum
\nChemon Ara Tayab spoke as discussant.<\/p>\n
A documentary on the life and works of Bangamata Begum Fazilatun
\nNesa Mujib, mother of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was also screened.<\/p>\n
AL relief and social welfare sub-committee arranged a discussion at
\nthe party’s Bangabandhu Avenue central office. On the occasion, on
\nbehalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, special gifts were given to
\nphysicians who are frontline fighters to face Covid-19.<\/p>\n
AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader addressed the discussion as the
\nchief guest.<\/p>\n
Convener of AL relief and social welfare sub-committee AKM
\nRahmatullah, MP, chaired the programme moderated by its member
\nsecretary and AL Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi.<\/p>\n
AL Presidium Member and Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque and
\nJahangir Kabir Nanak, Joint General Secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif
\nand AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Dhaka City South AL President Abu Ahmed
\nMannafi and General Secretary Humayun Kabir addressed it, among
\nothers.<\/p>\n
Sheikh Russel Jatiya Shishu Kishore Parishad arranged a discussion
\nand doa mahfil at AL’s Bangabandhu Avenue central office.<\/p>\n
AL Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim addressed the
\nfunction as the chief guest with organization’s founding Chairman
\nRaqibur Rahman in the chair.<\/p>\n
AL Organizing Secretary SM Kamal Hossain and host organization’s
\nSecretary General KM Shahid Ullah addressed it, among others.<\/p>\n
Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar and other electronic media
\nbroadcast special programmes marking the day.<\/p>\n
Born on August 8, 1930 at Tungipara village in Gopalganj, she was
\nbrutally killed by the assassins of Bangabandhu on the black night of
