The 50th birth anniversary of<\/p>\n
Bangabandhu’s grandson Sajeeb Wazed Joy was celebrated today amid
\nincreasing public expectations about his future role in political
\narena as by now he played the pivotal role in setting the country’s
\ncrucial course being the beacon of ‘Digital Bangladesh’.<\/p>\n
Marking his birthday, different programmes were arranged including
\ndiscussions, webinars, tree plantation, cutting of cakes, doa mahfil,
\ndistribution of foods among distressed people and distribution of
\nstudy materials among children.<\/p>\n
Awami League, Jubo League, Krishak League and different other
\nassociates and like-minded bodies of AL arranged programmes to
\ncelebrate his birth anniversary.<\/p>\n
“Thank you to everyone who has sent me birthday wishes. I am now
\nhalf a century old, the same age as Bangladesh. After 12 years of our
\nAwami League Government Bangladesh today is a middle income, digitized
\ncountry. I am a now middle aged tech entrepreneur!” Joy said this
\ntoday in a facebook post from his verified page.<\/p>\n
Despite being a leading political figure, Joy so far preferred a
\ndistinct course of action unlike any conventional politician, to
\nmaterialize the electoral pledge of the party he belongs to and his
\nmother Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina leads to build a Digital
\nBangladesh.<\/p>\n
Contemporary political history suggests that Joy, also Prime
\nMinister Sheikh Hasina’s ICT Affairs Adviser, was a key figure in
\nformulating the Awami League’s Vision 2021 manifesto, based-on what
\nthe party was reelected thrice to power since 2008.<\/p>\n
Being a member of Bangladesh’s most illustrious political family,
\nJoy’s character largely reflects the qualities of his grandfather
\nBangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who founded the country to remain
\nas the Father of the Nation.<\/p>\n
A graduate in computer engineering from the University of Texas at
\nArlington in the United States, Joy was born in 1971, coinciding with
\nthe emergence of Bangladesh as an independent nation. His father Dr MA
\nWazed Miah was an internationally reputed nuclear scientist.<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today released a special commemorative<\/p>\n
postage stamp, an opening day cover and a Data Card marking the 50th
\nbirth anniversary of her ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy and a
\ngrandson of Bangabandhu.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister unveiled the 10-Taka commemorative postage stamp,
\na 10-Taka opening day cover and a five-Taka Data Card at a simple
\nceremony at her official Ganabhaban residence this morning.<\/p>\n
A special canceller was used on the occasion. The stamp, first-day
\ncover and data card would be sold from Philatelic Bureau of Dhaka GPO
\nfrom today and those would be available at other GPOs and head post
\noffices across the country later.<\/p>\n
Awami League science and technology affairs sub-committee arranged
\na webinar titled “Progressing Digital Technology under the Leadership
\nof Jananetri Sheikh Hasina: Pioneer from Mujib to Sajeeb” marking his
\nbirth anniversary.<\/p>\n
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges
\nMinister Obaidul Quader addressed the webinar as the chief guest
\njoining it virtually from his official residence.<\/p>\n
Sub-committee’s Chairman Prof Dr Hossain Mansur chaired the webinar
\nwhile AL Science and Technology Affairs Secretary and sub-committee’s
\nmember secretary Engineer Md Abdus Sabur delivered the welcome
\naddress.<\/p>\n
Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET)
\nVice-Chancellor Prof Engineer Habibur Rahman, Bangladesh University of
\nEngineering and Technology (BUET) Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Engineer
\nAbdul Jabbar Khan and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital
\nUniversity Vice-Chancellor Prof Engineer Munaj Ahmed Noor addressed
\nthe webinar as discussants.<\/p>\n
Canadian University of Bangladesh Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Engineer
\nMuhammad Mahfuzul Islam presented the keynote paper in the webinar,
\nmoderated by the AL sub-committee member Engineer Md Ranak Ahsan.<\/p>\n
Krishak League arranged a doa mahfil and discussion in front of
\nBangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi road number 32 in the
\nafternoon.<\/p>\n
Awami League Joint General Secretary and Information and
\nBroadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud addressed the discussion as the
\nchief guest.<\/p>\n
Krishak League President Samir Chanda chaired it.<\/p>\n
Awami Jubo League also arranged milad and doa mahfil at its central
\noffice at Bangabandhu Avenue.<\/p>\n
Later, tree saplings were planted on the premises of Mahanagar
\nNatyamancha here under the arrangement of Awami Jubo League. Jubo
\nLeague General Secretary Md Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil joined it as
\nthe chief guest.<\/p>\n
Under the arrangement of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), foods,
\nstudy materials and health protective equipment were distributed among
\nover 100 underprivileged children at Madhu’s Canteen on Dhaka
\nUniversity campus.<\/p>\n
BCL President Al Nahian Khan Joy and General Secretary Lekhak
\nBhattacharjee were present, among others, on the occasion.<\/p>\n
Bangladesh Awami Matsajibi League arranged milad, doa mahfil and
\ncutting of cake at AL’s Bangabandhu Avenue central office. Matsajibi
\nLeague President valiant freedom fighter Saidur Rahman and General
\nSecretary Lion Sheikh Ajgar Naskar were present among others.<\/p>\n
Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote organized a virtual discussion with
\nits Executive President Rafiqul Alam in the chair.<\/p>\n
State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Murad Hassan,
\nDeputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem, Awami
\nLeague leaders Balaram Poddar, Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote General
